You’re Invited: Virtual “Creatives & Coffee” With Emmy-Winning Artist Mike Perry
Overview: Creatives & Coffee is an intimate monthly gathering that helps curious humans kickstart their day with a creative exercise and caffeine. It was born out of our frustration with seeing so much CONTENT online and not feeling like we carve out the time to actually DO the things that stretch our creative muscles.
→ RSVP here.
Our Presenter: Mike Perry has had a colorful career – literally. You may know his work on Broad City, which would garner him his first Emmy, for Motion Design. Or, you may know him from his formidable performative relationships with Hermès, Jameson, or Jimmy Fallon. Perry makes paintings, patterns, animation, sculptures, portraits, books, public art installations, monographs, exhibitions, drawings, silkscreens, and everything else that falls within the dreamscape.
In order to create any dreamscape, you have to create your own language that is foundational to it. And we mean that both literally and spiritually. During this Creatives & Coffee talk, Perry will share the sketching exercise he does to create his visuals languages. This is a crucial trial-and-error step between what’s in his head and what goes into the final piece. Then attendees will have the chance to do an interactive exercise to design their own artistic language of shapes, words, and icons. To close the session, attendees will have the chance to ask Perry questions about his creative process.
Who should attend?
1. Creative Directors who want to go inside the mind of someone who has surely made them jealous over the past 10 years.
2. Idea Generators who have lots of good thoughts in their head, but need help translating them on paper.
3. Designers who want to know how one of the best artists in the world imagines new worlds – and then makes them real.
This event will fill up quickly, so please RSVP here. We will see you there!
